How the Company Was Founded
Richard Silberstein began his insurance practice as a sole proprietor in October of 1981. That year, interest rates were hovering around 17%, Reagan was president and the word “Internet” was not yet in the dictionary. Much has changed since then – the industry has changed, and Silberstein Insurance Group has changed, too.
The company now has over 20 staff members and has moved from their downtown Baltimore office to a larger, more welcoming setting in Green Spring Valley. One of the core hiring and growth strategies that the company employs is never to hire simply for the empty position, but to consistently hire the best person available. As Richard says,
“When I’m looking for players, I don’t draft a tight end, just because there’s an opening on the team for one… I always take the best player available, regardless of position, and build a team of people who are truly exceptional at what they do – and they perform for our clients.”
After more than twenty years in the industry, the prevailing ethic at Silberstein Insurance Group remains their dedication to doing right by the clients they serve – for a lifetime.
